Fadl Lul Hakim Ihsan is a robotics researcher whose work centers on autonomous robot soccer systems, with a particular focus on computer vision, motion planning, and behavioral algorithms for wheeled soccer robots. He is closely associated with ERSOW, an Indonesian competitive soccer robot platform that participates in the Kontes Robot Sepak Bola Indonesia (KRSBI) and international RoboCup Middle Size League competitions. His most influential contribution, "Ball Detection using Local Binary Pattern in Middle Size Robot Soccer," published in 2019 and accumulating 16 citations, proposed an advancement over traditional color-thresholding methods by applying Local Binary Pattern techniques to improve ball detection accuracy using omnidirectional and monocular cameras. Building on this foundation, Ihsan extended his research into higher-level robot decision-making, developing intercept algorithms that enable robots to predict ball trajectories for dynamic passing scenarios, as well as optimizing chasing and catching behaviors critical to competitive play.
