About
Dominik Sommer is a pioneer in aerial manipulation, a field at the intersection of robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles. His most influential work, the 2013 paper "First analysis and experiments in aerial manipulation using fully actuated redundant robot arm" (144 citations), laid the foundation for a new generation of flying robots capable of physical interaction with their environment. In this seminal study, Sommer presented the first comprehensive analysis of a system combining a helicopter platform with a fully actuated seven-degree-of-freedom redundant industrial robotic arm.
