About

Bih-Yaw Shih is a Taiwanese researcher whose published work spans intelligent robotics, artificial intelligence applications, wireless networking, RFID systems, and educational technology. His research portfolio reflects an interest in bridging computational intelligence with practical systems, including autonomous biped robots, AI-driven sales forecasting for the convenience store industry, and IEEE 802.15.4 wireless network enhancements. His work on elementary students' acceptance of Lego NXT robotics platforms and interactive e-books for learning demonstrates a sustained commitment to technology-enhanced education. However, a significant portion of his most-cited output has been formally retracted following a major investigation by SAGE Publishing in 2013, which uncovered a peer review manipulation ring centered at National Pingtung University of Education in Taiwan. Several of Shih's papers on biped robot obstacle avoidance, robotic manipulator control, and dynamic walking robots — collectively accumulating over 200 citations — were implicated in this scandal. While his work on RFID anti-collision algorithms and wireless networking protocols remains intact, prospective readers and researchers are strongly advised to approach his publication record with critical scrutiny, carefully distinguishing retracted works from those that have withstood legitimate peer review.
