About

Anton Cervin is a leading figure in the field of cyber-physical systems, with a primary focus on the real-time control and simulation of networked embedded systems. His key research areas include wireless networked control systems, co-simulation of physical processes and computing platforms, and resource-aware control design. Cervin is best known as the principal architect of TrueTime, a pioneering MATLAB/Simulink-based simulator that enables holistic co-simulation of real-time kernels, network protocols, and continuous plant dynamics. His seminal 2006 paper, “Simulation of Wireless Networked Control Systems” (116 citations), established a foundational framework for analyzing the complex interactions between wireless communication and control performance. This work, along with his 2007 study on holistic simulation of mobile robots and sensor networks (5 citations), demonstrated the critical need for integrated simulation tools in the development of distributed mobile agents and wireless sensor/actuator networks. Through his contributions to the RUNES project, Cervin advanced the state of the art in modeling complex scenarios like autonomous navigation in tunnel environments. His research has profoundly influenced how engineers design and verify dependable, resource-constrained control systems.
