Alberto Rovetta is a pioneering Italian roboticist whose decades-spanning career at the Politecnico di Milano has made transformative contributions across medical robotics, telerobotics, and autonomous locomotion systems. His earliest significant work dates to 1981, when he designed a novel mechanical hand capable of grasping objects of generic shape — a foundational contribution to robotic manipulation and prosthetics research.
