About
Zinia Jaman is a leading researcher in high-throughput experimentation and accelerated reaction screening, whose work has revolutionized the discovery and optimization of organic synthesis. Her research focuses on integrating automated liquid handling, microdroplet chemistry, and desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (DESI-MS) to dramatically speed up the evaluation of reaction conditions. In her most-cited work (52 citations), she developed a fully automated system that leverages accelerated reactions in microdroplets for high-throughput screening, enabling rapid analysis of thousands of reactions with minimal material consumption. Her landmark study on nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr) reactions evaluated 3,072 unique reactions in just ~3.5 seconds per reaction, demonstrating an unprecedented throughput for reaction optimization. Jaman also pioneered the integration of high-throughput experimentation with continuous flow validation for Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reactions, bridging the gap between rapid screening and scalable synthesis. Her contributions have fundamentally shifted how chemists approach reaction discovery, reducing time and resource demands while increasing data richness. With over 120 total citations, Jaman’s work is essential reading for researchers in automated synthesis, flow chemistry, and reaction engineering.
