About
Yu-Che Tseng is a leading researcher at the intersection of indoor localization, pervasive computing, and human–machine interaction. His work is foundational to the next generation of smart environments, particularly in factory automation and elderly care. Tseng pioneered fingerprinting-based indoor localization, demonstrating how to automatically construct radio maps using iRobot and RFID technology—a breakthrough that bypasses the labor-intensive training phase of traditional systems. This work, cited over 20 times, laid the groundwork for his later innovations in magnetic field-based localization for Industry 4.0, where he employed neural networks and robotic sampling to achieve high-precision positioning in complex factory settings (34 citations). Beyond localization, Tseng has made significant contributions to person identification and tracking by fusing depth camera data with inertial sensors.
