About
Yifan Li is a rising innovator at the intersection of soft robotics, bioinspired materials, and intelligent manipulation systems. Their research primarily focuses on developing high-performance flexible sensors and actuators, drawing inspiration from nature to solve critical engineering challenges. Li's most notable contribution is a pressure sensor that uniquely combines the biomimetic structures of shark and crocodile skins, achieving a remarkable balance between high sensitivity and a wide working range—a persistent challenge in the field. This work has already garnered 19 citations shortly after publication. In the domain of artificial muscles, Li has pioneered environmentally friendly ionic polymer-metal composites (IPMCs) using isopropanol-modified hydrocarbon-based polymers, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional Nafion substrates. Further advancing actuator technology, Li developed Pt/Au composite electrode architectures that create efficient electron channels, significantly enhancing electromechanical performance and extending device lifetime. Demonstrating versatility beyond materials, Li also introduced "Panda Act," a novel framework enabling robotic manipulation tasks through multiple zero-shot models, allowing robots to tackle unfamiliar tasks without extensive training data. Li's work is rapidly gaining recognition for its practical impact on electronic skin, healthcare, and soft robotics.
