About
Xia Sun is pioneering the design of advanced hydrogels and nanocomposites for flexible electronics, soft robotics, and underwater sensing. Their major contributions center on developing tough, non-swelling, and multifunctional hydrogels that overcome longstanding trade-offs between strength and toughness. Sun’s 2024 work on a biomimetic “salting out–alignment–locking” tactic achieved simultaneous enhancement of hydrogel strength and toughness (165 citations), offering a transformative approach for load-bearing soft materials.
