About

Maged S. Al-Quraishi is a leading researcher at the intersection of artificial intelligence, collaborative robotics, and biomedical signal processing. His work focuses on enhancing human-robot interaction, particularly through the development of intelligent control systems for rehabilitation robots and industrial cobots. Al-Quraishi’s most impactful contribution is his systematic review on the expanding role of AI in collaborative robots, which has amassed 139 citations and provides a comprehensive framework for integrating intelligent systems into industrial applications. He has also made significant advances in using surface electromyography (sEMG) signals to classify ankle joint movements, a critical step toward more responsive prosthetic and orthotic devices. His 2016 paper on this topic, with 41 citations, demonstrates how muscle activity can be decoded to control rehabilitation robots. Additionally, his work on electrode placement standards (19 citations) and multichannel EMG data acquisition systems (12 citations) has helped establish best practices for recording high-quality biosignals. Through these contributions, Al-Quraishi is helping to bridge the gap between humans and machines, enabling safer, more intuitive robotic systems that can assist in both industrial and clinical settings.
