About

Julien Chimot is a leading expert in satellite aerosol and surface remote sensing, with a primary focus on advancing Earth observation capabilities for climate and environmental monitoring. His most impactful work centers on the retrieval of aerosol and surface properties from the Ocean and Land Color Instrument (OLCI) aboard Copernicus Sentinel-3A, where he pioneered the application of the GRASP (Generalized Retrieval of Atmosphere and Surface Properties) approach. This landmark study, published in 2022 and accumulating 39 citations, demonstrates a robust methodology for deriving critical atmospheric parameters from OLCI’s 21 spectral bands, significantly enhancing our ability to monitor aerosol distributions over both land and ocean.
