Hojun Seo is a leading researcher in biomimetic tactile sensing, a field dedicated to creating artificial touch systems that replicate the extraordinary sensitivity of human skin. His major contributions center on developing novel sensor architectures that can detect and differentiate complex tactile stimuli, including pressure, shear force, and surface texture. In his highly cited 2019 work, Seo introduced a biomimetic tactile sensor with a bilayer "fingerprint" structure, achieving enhanced texture recognition by mimicking the human epidermal ridges.
