D. G. Currie is a pioneering physicist whose career has been defined by a sustained commitment to lunar laser ranging (LLR) and its applications in fundamental physics. Working at the intersection of precision measurement, gravitational theory, and space instrumentation, Currie has played a central role in advancing retroreflector technology for deployment on the Moon. His most celebrated contribution is the MoonLIGHT project — a next-generation lunar laser ranging retroreflector array developed through USA–Italy collaboration — designed to dramatically improve upon the Apollo-era arrays that have served science since 1969. By pushing measurement precision toward the sub-millimeter regime, Currie's work enables rigorous tests of General Relativity, constraints on new physics, and refinements in our understanding of the Moon's internal structure and orbital dynamics.
