Abstract
Soft Robotics Wormlike robots can navigate through uneven terrain and constricted spaces, but it has proved difficult to completely avoid rigid components, limiting the compliance of such machines. In article 2210409, Hillel J. Chiel, Roger D. Quinn, Christoph Weder, Kathryn A. Daltorio, and co-workers report an earthworm-inspired robot that is based on soft polymer actuators. The robot moves through peristaltic locomotion and can wiggle itself through small openings.
