Dr. Zhongcheng Liu is a leading innovator in the field of biomimetic soft robotics and advanced polymer materials, with a core focus on liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) and networks (LCNs). His research masterfully integrates dynamic chemistry and responsive structures to create multifunctional actuators that mimic nature’s most sophisticated abilities. Dr. Liu’s seminal work on thermo- and mechanochromic camouflage and self-healing in LCE-based soft actuators (196 citations) represents a breakthrough, achieving the systematic integration of deformation, color change, and autonomous repair within a single device—a long-standing challenge in the field.
