About

Yucheng Jin is a leading researcher in agricultural robotics, specializing in the development of intelligent harvesting systems for fruit crops. His work focuses on integrating computer vision, robotic manipulation, and hand–eye coordination to address the critical challenge of automating the selective picking of delicate produce. Jin’s most significant contribution is his pioneering work on high-speed robotic harvesting of trellis grapes, where he developed a real-time picking point decision algorithm that enables a cut-and-catch mechanism to operate efficiently in complex canopy environments. His research on far-close-range combined vision systems and virtual multi-interaction operation systems has advanced the field by improving the accuracy and robustness of fruit detection and positioning. With his top-cited paper, “Development status and trend of agricultural robot technology,” accumulating 147 citations, Jin has established himself as a key voice in the field. He has also designed a four-arm multi-joint apple harvesting robot and a fully autonomous strawberry pest inspection robot, demonstrating his versatility. Jin’s work is instrumental in moving agricultural robots from concept to practical, high-speed, and user-friendly solutions.
