Yuan Fu-cai is a pioneering roboticist whose work has transformed the maintenance of aquatic and urban infrastructure. His primary research focuses on the design and development of specialized cleaning robots for challenging environments, including underwater hulls, swimming pools, and drainage pipelines. His most influential contribution is the "underwater hull-cleaning robot" (2004, 33 citations), a seminal work that laid the groundwork for automated ship maintenance, reducing the need for costly and dangerous manual cleaning in dry docks.
