Youn-sik Park is a leading figure in robotics and acoustics, whose research bridges the critical gap between machine perception and mechanical control. His work is defined by two primary pillars: advanced sound source localization for robotic auditory systems and the sophisticated reduction of vibration in flexible mechanical structures. In the domain of acoustics, Park made foundational contributions to the GCC-PHAT technique, a cornerstone method for estimating time delay of arrival (TDOA) from microphone arrays.
