About

Yaopeng Zhang is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of dental robotics and bioinspired electronic materials. His work spans two transformative domains: automated dental healthcare and intelligent biomimetic systems. In dentistry, Zhang developed the first automatic tooth preparation robotic device integrating ultra-short pulse laser technology with three-dimensional motion planning, achieving clinical-grade accuracy (38 citations). His foundational studies on picosecond laser parameters for full-crown preparation established the technical framework for robotic dentistry (14 citations). More recently, Zhang has advanced the frontier of bioelectronic skins and artificial nociceptors. He engineered 3D-printed silk fibroin/polyacrylamide triple-network composite hydrogels that combine stretchability, conductivity, and strain-sensing capabilities for bionic electronic skins (17 citations). His bioinspired artificial nociceptive alarm system, based on fibrous biomemristors, mimics human pain perception for wearable electronics and brain-computer interfaces (15 citations). Zhang also developed memristor-based artificial tactile perception systems integrating sensing, storage, and computing functions (12 citations). His work bridges clinical dentistry and next-generation intelligent materials, demonstrating remarkable versatility and impact in creating technologies that sense, compute, and respond like biological systems.
