About

Driven by the need for precise Earth observation, Xiuqing Hu has pioneered the use of the Moon as a stable calibration target for satellite sensors. His foundational work, including the development of a novel hyperspectral lunar irradiance model (19 citations), directly addresses the challenge of using the lunar surface as a standard for radiometric calibration. By comparing lunar models with hyper-spectral observations from Lijiang, China (14 citations), Hu has significantly reduced uncertainties in this critical technique.
