Weihe Wang is a leading figure in satellite-based aerosol remote sensing, with a research focus on the optical and microphysical properties of atmospheric aerosols over East Asia. Her work is pivotal in understanding how dust storms and anthropogenic pollution affect regional climate and air quality. Wang’s most impactful study, with 19 citations, analyzed the severe April 2014 dust storm—dubbed “China’s Great Wall of Dust”—from the Taklimakan Desert, using FY-2E and FY-3C satellite data to track changes in aerosol properties.
