About

Xiaoshuai Li is a rising innovator in the field of smart materials and soft robotics, with a primary focus on liquid crystal networks (LCNs) and their integration with photothermal nanomaterials. Li’s research centers on developing flexible, stimulus-responsive composite films that convert external energy—such as infrared light, sunlight, or heat—into precise, reversible mechanical deformation. A key contribution is the design of graphene oxide/LCN composites with tunable mesogenic arrangements, enabling fast, programmable actuation for applications in bionic devices and biological soft robots. Li has further advanced the field by incorporating carbon nanopowder-doped PVDF for sunlight-drivable actuators and Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene for near-infrared photo-responsive films, expanding the versatility and energy sources available for soft actuators. With over 14 citations across these three foundational papers published between 2023 and 2024, Li’s work is gaining rapid recognition for its practical potential in wearable technology and intelligent bionic equipment. By bridging materials chemistry and device engineering, Li is helping to lay the groundwork for next-generation, energy-efficient soft robots that can operate autonomously in diverse environments.
