About
Wanli Zhang is a pioneering researcher in flexible electronics and bioinspired sensory systems, with a focus on developing advanced tactile and memory technologies for robotics. His key contributions include the creation of a flexible three-dimensional force sensor based on PI piezoresistive film (2018, 45 citations), which enables precise, multi-directional force detection for wearable and robotic applications. More notably, Zhang designed a Memristor-Based Bioinspired Multimodal Sensory Memory System (2022, 18 citations) that mimics human sensory adaptation—allowing robots to gradually adjust their sensitivity based on recent environmental stimuli. This work represents a significant step toward robots that can interact with their surroundings more naturally and intelligently, much like humans do. By integrating piezoresistive sensing with memristive memory, Zhang bridges the gap between physical sensing and neuromorphic computing. His research holds promise for next-generation adaptive robotics, prosthetics, and human–machine interfaces, demonstrating how bioinspired design can lead to more responsive and autonomous systems.
