Takeshi Uno is a pioneering figure in intelligent robotics, whose visionary work in the 1970s laid the groundwork for modern autonomous systems. Uno’s most influential contribution is the development of an intelligent robot capable of recognizing and assembling three-dimensional objects from plan drawings, a feat that integrated vidicon cameras, articulated mechanical hands, and digital computers.
