About
S. Z. S. Yusoff is a researcher whose work lies at the intersection of robotics, fuzzy logic control, and computer vision. A key contribution is the development of a fuzzy logic-controlled miniature LEGO robot designed as an undergraduate training system, a highly cited paper (27 citations) that demonstrates how fuzzy logic can simplify the control of complex systems using imprecise or noisy information. This work provides an accessible, hands-on platform for students to learn advanced control concepts. Yusoff has also advanced mobile robotics through an active stereo vision-based system that estimates robot orientation using affine moment invariants. This method offers a straightforward procedure for determining a robot’s position and orientation, a fundamental challenge in computer vision and image processing. By combining fuzzy logic with stereo vision techniques, Yusoff’s research bridges theoretical control methods with practical robotic applications, making significant contributions to educational robotics and autonomous navigation.
