S. Peyridieu is a leading atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on the characterization and transport of mineral dust aerosols, particularly from North Africa. Her major contributions center on using satellite remote sensing to quantify dust properties and evaluate global climate models. Her most impactful work, a 2014 multimodel analysis with 135 citations, assessed the sources, sinks, and transatlantic transport of North African dust, comparing five global models against satellite data to reveal critical discrepancies in simulated dust cycles. Peyridieu also pioneered the use of Infrared Atmospheric Sounder Interferometer (IASI) observations to retrieve dust aerosol optical depth, mean altitude, and coarse mode effective radius at 10 μm, as detailed in her 2013 study (77 citations).
