About
Virginie Capelle is a leading atmospheric scientist whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of mineral dust aerosols and their role in the Earth’s climate system. Her research centers on satellite remote sensing of aerosols, with a particular focus on the infrared spectrum. Capelle’s major contribution is the development and validation of a novel retrieval method for the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI), which allows for the daily, global monitoring of dust aerosol optical depth (AOD) and altitude.
