S. Nagayama is an observational astrophysicist whose work centers on the development and deployment of rapid-response, multicolor optical telescopes for time-domain astronomy. His most significant contribution is the creation of the **MITSuME** (Multicolor Imaging Telescopes for Survey and Monstrous Explosions) system, a project designed to capture the fleeting optical afterglows of gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena.
