About

Kiichi Okita is a key figure in the development of rapid-response, multi-color optical astronomy, with a primary focus on the study of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and other transient astrophysical phenomena. His most significant contribution is the design and construction of the MITSuME (Multicolor Imaging Telescopes for Survey and Monstrous Explosions) system, a project that has defined his career. This innovative system consists of 50-cm optical telescopes equipped with three dedicated CCD cameras, enabling simultaneous photometry in the g', Rc, and Ic bands.
