Rex Dalton’s research career spans two distinct but technically demanding domains: robotics and nuclear safety. In his foundational 1990 paper, “Faster-than-real-time robot simulation for plan development and robot safety,” Dalton pioneered simulation techniques that allowed robotic systems to operate ahead of real time—enabling safer, more efficient planning for autonomous operations.
