About
Redwan Alqasemi is a prominent robotics and assistive technology researcher whose work has profoundly advanced the independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Best known for his pioneering development of wheelchair-mounted robotic arms (WMRAs), Alqasemi has systematically tackled the mechanical design, kinematic analysis, and intelligent control of systems enabling mobility-impaired users to perform activities of daily living. His early foundational work on WMRA kinematics and design (2005–2006) laid the groundwork for increasingly sophisticated systems, culminating in the landmark 9-DoF WMRA controlled via a P300 Brain-Computer Interface (2009–2010), which garnered 95 citations and demonstrated that severely impaired users could direct robotic assistance through neural signals alone.
