About

Qunhui Xu is pioneering the next generation of electronic skin (e-skin) by drawing inspiration from human biology. Her research focuses on biomimetic tactile sensing, multi-parameter perception, and touchless human-machine interfaces—critical areas for advancing robotics, prosthetics, and hygienic interaction technologies. In her landmark 2023 work, Xu introduced a modular e-skin that mimics the layered structure and distributed mechanoreceptors of human skin to achieve stress field sensing, enabling robots to perceive pressure, shear, and texture simultaneously.
