P. Seshu is a distinguished researcher in the field of bio-inspired robotics, with a primary focus on legged locomotion and dynamic stability. In this review, Seshu systematically categorizes the design principles, control strategies, and mechanical challenges unique to monopedal robots, establishing a foundational roadmap for the field. Furthering this line of inquiry, Seshu investigated the "Search for Initial Conditions for Sustained Hopping of Passive Springy-Leg Offset-Mass Hopping Robot" (2007). In this work, he introduced the SLOM (springy-leg, offset-mass) configuration, demonstrating that offsetting the center of gravity from the spring’s line of action can extend passive hopping motion. By employing heuristic and genetic algorithm-based search strategies, he identified critical initial conditions for sustained, energy-efficient hopping.
