About

Minghui Nan is a pioneer in the development of intelligent, biocompatible soft robots and microrobots for biomedical applications. Their research uniquely integrates advanced materials science with medical imaging, focusing on creating multifunctional systems that can be precisely controlled inside the body. Nan’s most impactful work, a 2022 study on multifunctional microrobots for liver cancer chemoembolization (134 citations), demonstrates a breakthrough in real-time visualization and MRI-guided therapy, overcoming critical challenges in in vivo actuation and biocompatibility. This is complemented by innovations in high-performance artificial muscles using nanobiocomposites (47 citations) and multistimulus-responsive soft actuators (30 citations) that enable programmable shape-morphing for biomimetic and medical use.
