About
Manxu Zheng is a leading researcher in rehabilitation robotics, with a primary focus on adaptive control systems for wearable lower limb exoskeletons. His most significant contribution is the development of the trajectory deformation-based multi-modal adaptive compliance control strategy (TD-MACCS), a pioneering framework that enables rehabilitation robots to dynamically adjust their behavior in response to a patient’s varying needs and physical capabilities. This work, published in 2024 and already garnering 19 citations, addresses a critical challenge in neurorehabilitation: ensuring both safety and therapeutic efficacy during robot-assisted training. By allowing the robot to deform its motion trajectory in real time while maintaining compliant interaction, Zheng’s approach marks a substantial advance over traditional rigid control methods. His research is instrumental in moving rehabilitation robotics from laboratory settings toward practical, patient-responsive clinical tools, promising more personalized and effective recovery for individuals with lower limb impairments.
