About

Kwangtaek Kim’s research bridges the physical and the virtual, with a focus on interactive dynamic simulation and brain-computer interfaces (BCI). His early, foundational work introduced a generalized framework for simulating multi-rigid-body systems with contact interactions, realized in a prototype called the Interactive Generalized Motion Simulator (I-GMS). This framework, which has garnered 18 citations, enables realistic, real-time motion of complex objects in virtual environments—a critical capability for robotics, haptics, and training simulators. More recently, Kim has advanced assistive technology through BCI, developing a single-channel EEG system using Steady-State Visual Evoked Potentials (SSVEP) to control a robot arm.
