About
Jingbo Sun is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of mechanical metamaterials and multi-robot systems, whose work bridges fundamental physics with life-saving applications. Sun’s primary contributions lie in two distinct yet impactful domains: the mechanics of snap-through instability in advanced materials, and the optimization of collaborative robotics for disaster response. In the former, Sun’s highly cited 2025 paper on snap-through instability in mechanical metamaterials (22 citations) has become a cornerstone for designing materials that exhibit rapid motion, energy modulation, and bistable deformation—enabling novel functionalities from fast actuators to energy-absorbing structures. In parallel, Sun developed a Problem Specific Genetic Differential Evolution Algorithm for multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling in collaborative multi-robot systems for search and rescue (2021).
