Dr. Ilya Serikov is a leading figure in atmospheric remote sensing, whose work has fundamentally advanced our ability to characterize volcanic ash and aerosol plumes. His primary research focuses on the development of innovative lidar and photometer methodologies for profiling aerosol properties in the atmosphere. Dr. Serikov’s most impactful contribution is a combined lidar-photometer technique that enables the retrieval of vertical profiles of ash and fine-mode particle mass concentrations.
