Hiroshi Iseki is a pioneering neurosurgeon and biomedical engineer whose career has been defined by the integration of robotics, imaging technology, and precision surgery to advance the field of neurosurgery. Working at the intersection of engineering and medicine, Iseki has made landmark contributions to MRI-compatible surgical robotics, most notably his 1995 development of a needle insertion manipulator for stereotactic neurosurgery — a groundbreaking achievement that has accumulated over 300 citations and helped establish a new paradigm for intraoperative imaging-guided intervention.
