Difeng Wang is a leading figure in satellite ocean color remote sensing, specializing in the atmospheric correction of geostationary and polar-orbiting sensors to improve water-leaving radiance retrievals in challenging environments. Her research addresses critical gaps in ocean color data, particularly under high solar zenith angles, in coastal waters affected by absorbing aerosols, and during winter months in high-latitude oceans. Wang’s most-cited work, “Atmospheric correction of geostationary satellite ocean color data under high solar zenith angles in open oceans” (2020, 57 citations), provides a foundational method for extending satellite observations into low-light conditions.
