About

Caicai Jiao is a rising figure in the field of liquid metal-based flexible electronics, with a research focus on the solidification behavior of gallium and the development of advanced soft sensors. Her most cited work, “Fast Solidification of Pure Gallium at Room Temperature and its Micromechanical Properties” (2022, 12 citations), addresses a critical challenge in the field—the large degree of supercooling in gallium—by exploring its rapid phase transition and resulting micromechanical characteristics. This work has significant implications for thermal management, soft robotics, and flexible device fabrication. In her more recent study, “The soft liquid metal-based pressure sensor based on resistance-capacitance coupling” (2025, 5 citations), Jiao introduces an innovative dual-mode sensing approach that combines resistance and capacitance changes, overcoming the limitations of single-mechanism sensors for enhanced sensitivity and functionality in wearable electronics and human-computer interaction. Her contributions are helping to bridge fundamental materials science with practical device engineering, offering new pathways for intelligent, deformable systems. With growing citation impact and a clear trajectory toward high-performance soft electronics, Jiao is establishing herself as a promising young researcher in the liquid metal community.
