About

Arjun Dey is a leading experimental cosmologist and instrumentation scientist whose work has been pivotal in advancing our understanding of dark energy. His primary research focuses on the design and construction of massive spectroscopic surveys, particularly the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), a Stage IV ground-based experiment. Dey’s major contributions include the development of DESI’s revolutionary robotic focal plane system, which employs 5,020 fiber positioners to simultaneously capture spectra from 5,000 celestial objects, reconfiguring every 10–20 minutes with micron-level precision.
