About
Aidan Brougham‐Cook is a leading researcher in hepatic tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, with a focus on how the liver’s extracellular matrix (ECM) and biophysical cues govern hepatocyte function. His work bridges materials science and cell biology to solve a critical challenge: maintaining mature hepatocyte phenotype outside the body. In his highly cited 2022 study (21 citations), Brougham‐Cook demonstrated how ECM protein microarrays can precisely modulate the phenotype of human iPSC-derived hepatocytes, offering a powerful platform for drug screening and disease modeling. His 2021 paper (13 citations) provided the first systematic, single-cell-resolution analysis of how ECM composition and stiffness cooperatively regulate primary human hepatocyte attachment and function, using protein microarrays to screen ten major liver ECM components.
