A. Melandri is a leading astrophysicist specializing in the study of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), particularly their early-time optical afterglows and polarization. Their research has fundamentally advanced our understanding of GRB fireball physics, ultra-long bursts, and the use of GRBs as probes of the early universe.
