About
A. Kutyrev is a leading figure in astronomical instrumentation, specializing in the development of robotic observatories and wide-field optical transient imagers. His work has been instrumental in advancing the automation of ground-based telescopes for rapid-response astrophysics. Notably, Kutyrev led the automation of the 1.5-meter Harold Johnson telescope at the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional in Mexico, enabling robotic operations for the Reionization And Transients Infra-Red (RATIR) camera. This work, published in 2012 and cited over 50 times, has been foundational for time-domain astronomy, allowing for autonomous follow-up of gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena.
