Dr. Tetsu Koike is a leading figure in deep-sea robotics and marine resource exploration, specializing in the autonomous survey of cobalt-rich manganese crusts (Mn-crusts). His work directly addresses the challenge of mapping vast, inaccessible seafloor deposits critical for modern battery technologies. Koike’s major contribution is the development of multirobot, multimodal survey strategies that dramatically improve the efficiency and accuracy of resource estimation.
