About

Subin Jin is pioneering the frontier of bioelectronic medicine, with a research focus on injectable biomaterials and soft, tissue-like electronics for closed-loop rehabilitation and human–machine interfaces. Her most impactful work, an “injectable tissue prosthesis” (2023, 170 citations), introduces a paradigm-shifting approach to instantaneous, closed-loop rehabilitation—embedding conductive, stretchable hydrogels directly into the body to sense and stimulate neural and muscular activity in real time. This innovation bridges the gap between rigid implants and soft biological tissue, enabling seamless, adaptive recovery for patients with brain disorders or motor impairments. Jin further advanced interactive human–machine interfaces (iHMI) with an injection-on-skin granular adhesive (2023, 34 citations), creating strain sensors that mimic skin’s mechanical properties for cognitive behavioral therapy and physical rehabilitation. Her recent work (2025, 6 citations) integrates these injectable conductive hydrogels with robot-assisted, stretchable patch electrodes, pushing toward autonomous, patient-specific therapy. With a growing citation footprint and a clear trajectory toward clinical translation, Jin is redefining how we think about implantable electronics—moving from passive devices to active, living prosthetics that heal from within.
