About
Sijun Liu is a leading researcher in the development of advanced functional hydrogels and soft electronic sensors, with a particular focus on stretchable, self-healing materials for 3D and 4D printing applications. Liu’s most impactful contribution is the creation of an ultrastretchable, self-healing double-network hydrogel, which combines ionically cross-linked κ-carrageenan with covalently cross-linked polyacrylamide. This work, cited over 450 times, leverages thermoreversible sol-gel transitions to achieve remarkable mechanical resilience and autonomous healing, setting a new benchmark for printable smart materials.
