Ruomeng Yu is a leading innovator in the field of electronic skin (e-skin) and flexible bioelectronics, whose work has fundamentally advanced how machines can sense and interact with their environment. His research focuses on developing highly stretchable, conformable sensor networks that mimic the human somatosensory system, enabling the detection of pressure, strain, and temperature. Yu’s most influential contribution is the creation of a skin-inspired matrix network for multifunctional sensing, a breakthrough published in 2018 that has garnered over 1,390 citations and set a new standard for wearable sensor design. He also authored the seminal review “Recent Progress in Electronic Skin” (962 citations), which has become a foundational reference for researchers in robotics and artificial intelligence.
