About
Richeng Lin is a leading figure in the development of advanced flexible electronics and wearable sensor technologies. His research focuses on the synthesis and application of novel single-crystal materials, particularly cubic boron phosphide (c-BP), for next-generation mechanical sensors. Lin’s major contribution lies in demonstrating the remarkable mechanical resilience of c-BP microwires, achieving an ultralarge elastic deformation capable of a 180° fold without fracture. This breakthrough, detailed in his highly cited 2023 work, directly addresses a critical challenge in wearable devices: creating robust, flexible strain sensors that reliably convert external mechanical stimuli into electrical signals. By leveraging the B–Ni phase diagram to synthesize pure-phase c-BP crystals, his work has opened new pathways for durable, high-performance sensing elements. With his research garnering significant attention and citations, Lin is recognized for pushing the boundaries of material mechanics and flexible electronics, establishing a foundation for truly wearable and deformable technologies.
